Mitsuko Barnes Kellam

Mitsuko "Mitsy" I. Barnes-Kellam, age 91, of Fayetteville, Ark., died on March 29, 2022, at Butterfield Trail Village. She was born February 21, 1931, in Toyama, Japan, to Gengo Inano and Chiyo Fujita Inano. After World War II and the deaths of her parents, she came to the United States to study. She attended San Francisco State College and San Jose State College in California. She received her M.S. degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, Calif., and her Ph.D. degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wis. She taught at Texas Tech University and the University of Arkansas. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Mitsy was preceded in death by her husbands, Owen Barnes, and Ray A. Kellam; and her sister, Hisae Inujima. She is survived by nephew, Masaru Inujima; and niece, Mitsuru Doai, both of Japan.
