Ruthie Mae Wrather

Ruthie M. Wrather, born July 2, 1943, to Morgan and Maeola Heaggans in Plummerville, Ark., transitioned to her eternal home on Thursday, May 12, 2022. Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 39 years, Robert "Bob" Wrather, six brothers and two sisters. Ruthie professed an early belief in Christ in Menifee, Arkansas. She was a faithful member of Pilgrim Valley Baptist Church where she was involved in various auxiliaries including the Usher Board, Chairperson of the Program Planning Committee, Sunday School Teacher and Leader for Bible Study Fellowship. Ruthie retired in 2005 from the United States Eastern District Court. She also worked for the Clerk's Office in the early years of her career. She was a graduate from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Ruthie was the first black female candidate to run for the position of Pulaski County Clerk. She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Billy Ray Wrather, daughters, Pamela Wrather and Jeri Wrather Robinson, and her precious grandddaughter, Peyton Robinson; two siblings, Elbert Heaggans, Morrilton, Ark., and Gertrude Black, Kansas City, Mo., faithful friends, Gloria Stubblefield, Doris Collins and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Family hour will be held Friday, May 20, 2022, 6-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 21, 2022, 11 a.m., both at Pilgrim Valley Baptist Church, 1821 Wolfe St., Little Rock, Ark. Interment at Allen Chapel Cemetery, Atkins, Ark. Services entrusted to Premier Funeral Home, 1518 S. Battery St., Little Rock, Ark., 72202.
