A devoted wife, mother, friend, and child of God, Jennifer Hildreth Thompson, 73, went home to her Lord on May 17, 2022. Thompson was born July 20, 1948, to loving parents, William Wilson Hildreth, Jr. and Nelda Mae Smith Hildreth in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. After graduating from Pine Bluff High School, she earned a degree in elementary education from Arkansas State University in 1970 and was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. It was there that she met Joe Thompson, the love of her life. Their fifty-three years of marriage began November 29, 1968. After graduation, they spent three years between Fort Lee, Va., and Fort Campbell, Ky. In 1972, they made their home in Pine Bluff, Ark., where they raised their three children until 1992, when they moved to Bentonville, Ark. She was an elementary school teacher in Fort Campbell and Trinity Episcopal School in Pine Bluff. She was active in The Junior League of Pine Bluff and served as president. After moving to Bentonville, she worked tirelessly for fifteen years with her husband in their mortgage business. She also served on the Selective Service Board for many years. Jennifer served the kingdom of God in many ways. A dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff and Bentonville. Her greatest fulfillment was serving in Bible Study Fellowship as a discussion and children's leader for18 years. She faithfully shared her love and knowledge of Christ with her children and grandchildren creating memories that will last a lifetime. She leaves her husband, Joe Thompson, and three children, Leah T. Jackson and husband Lewis, of Little Rock, H. Gordon Thompson and wife Jennifer of Memphis and Joseph W. Thompson and wife Kellie of Bentonville, a sister, Claudia H. Kelty and husband Jack of Heber Springs: nine grandchildren, Allison Rose Jackson, Wilson Gordon Thompson, Hildreth (Hil) Parker Thompson, Rachel Leah Jackson, Joseph Benjamin (Ben) Thompson, Claire Elizabeth Thompson, Hank Farnham Thompson, Bo LiKun Thompson, and Britton John Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William (Bill) Wilson Hildreth, III. PallBearers will be Jennifer's grandsons and great-nephews, William (Will) Rhodes Thompson, III and Alex Todd Thompson. Honorary pallbearers include, Bob McCaslin, Howard Kerr, Tim Swindle, Joe Haynie, and Joe Johnston. The funeral will be 2 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Cross Church Pinnacle Hills.
