Joseph "Papaw JR" Cornelison, Jr., 88, of Hindsville, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at home. He was born Wednesday, August 23, 1933, at Hindsville, to Joseph Jackson and Mary Elinder Vanderpool Cornelison. Papaw JR married Willa Dean Evans and together they were parents to two children. He was employed for many years at Jones Truck Lines as a trailer mechanic, and had proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Papaw JR had a passion for woodworking and working on his farm. He also enjoyed reading his bible, having Sunday dinners with his family, and dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Papaw JR was preceded in death by his wife, Willa Dean; his son, Mark Edward Cornelison; his parents, Joseph and Mary Cornelison; and his siblings, Curtis, Bob, James, Fern, Margaret, Pansy, Betty, Nelli, and Florence. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Debbie Cornelison, five grandchildren, Andrew Cornelison, Ryan Cornelison, Keith Cornelison, Brandie and Gary Smith, and Nicole and Brandon Walker; seven great-grandchildren, Taeyler Cornelison, Maecey Cornelison, Takale Lane, Sheldon Lane, Sydnie Walker, Lexie Walker, and Brantley; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2022, at Brashears Funeral Home with Loren Collins officiating. Pallbearers will be Andrew Cornelison, Sheldon Lane, Ryan Cornelison, Brandon Walker, Travis Lane, Floyd Cornelison, Brantley Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Cornelison, Steven Cornelison, and Jerry Cornelison. Interment will immediately follow services at Colbaugh Cemetery, Hindsville. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
