Robert Glen Staats, age 78, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022, in Bella Vista, Ark. He was born September 16, 1943, in Hereford, Texas, to Oliver and Mary Belle (Atchley) Staats. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his loving wife of 52 years, Linda "Susie" Staats, one brother, Joe Staats, one sister, Margaret McGee, and his nephew, Jimmy McGee. Robert graduated from Bentonville High School in 1962 and served our country as a member of the Army National Guard from 1961 to 1965. He later completed a Bachelor of Accounting degree at Missouri Southern University. After several moves around the country over the years, Robert then relocated his family to California where he owned and operated his trucking business, Staats Enterprises. After moving back to Arkansas in 1988, he owned and operated a chicken and cattle farm until his retirement. Robert enjoyed spending time on his farm tending to his cattle, playing dominoes with his childhood friend Jerry Jones, meeting his classmates every month for dinner and going to breakfast every Saturday morning with the guys. Robert loved his family deeply and got great joy from being a grandpa. He loved watching his grandkids swim in the pool and taking them to breakfast with his friends. Before his wife's passing, the two enjoyed traveling together. Robert received a heart transplant on April 15, 1992, at Vanderbilt and loved talking with everyone about his experience and showing off his lack of a scar from the transplant. Robert is survived by his two daughters, Sherri (Chad) Tullis of Bentonville, Julie (Shane) Haskin of Kissee Mills, Missouri, a son, Ted (Marilyn) Staats of Bentonville; ten grandchildren, Natalie and Michael Tullis, Nia, and Nash Allen, Madi Juarez, Molly and Cash Staats, and Frankie, Dana and Abigail Frenzel. A visitation will be held Monday, May 23, 2022, from 4-6 p.m., at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home of Rogers. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 10 a.m., at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home of Rogers with interment to immediately follow at Bentonville Cemetery.
