Winifred Gertrude Berg

Winnie Berg, 80, passed away peacefully in her home May 18, 2022, surrounded by her husband and members of her loving family, after a brief but brave battle with cancer. Born Winifred Gertrude Schenck February 3, 1942, in Norfolk, Va., Winnie was raised in Laguna, California and spent most of her adult life in southern Calif. However, in 2009, Winnie and Richard moved to Cherokee Village, Ark., and made it their permanent home. Winnie quickly established herself as an active member of several aid and fellowship groups, as well as the First Landmark Baptist Church in Highland. Winnie touched many lives and devoted much of her time to helping others. She was loved not only by her family, but a large community of caring and supportive friends. Winnie leaves behind her heartbroken family, her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Richard Berg; sister, Louise (Pete) Ysais; brother, Mike Schenck; children, Lloyd (Kelly) Lauer; Scott (Kathy) Lauer, Thomas Berg, Patricia (Jean-Yves) Renfrow, Nancy Berg, Larry Berg; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces; and many, many friends. A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 5 at 2 p.m. at First Landmark Baptist Church. Arrangements were made through Wortham Funeral Home, Highland, Ark.
