Sally Armstrong Galyon

Sally Armstrong Galyon, 74, was born November 29, 1947 in Boston, Mass., to the late Hester Lyon and Addison Armstrong II. Sally was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, Va., in 1966. Four years later, she graduated from Stratford College in Danville, Va., where she was a debutante, with a major in Sociology. After college, Sally started her career in banking. She was the Audit Assistant for Commercial Bank in Richmond, Va. Then, she worked as a Senior Research Assistant for Federal Reserve Bank. Finally, she worked as a Senior Methods Procedure Analyst before being promoted to Operations Officer for Central Fidelity Bank. In 1973, Sally married the love of her life, Thomas Carter Galyon in Richmond, Va. Soon after, the family moved to Okemos, Mich., where she became a stay-at-home mom to two children. Sally was very involved in her children's lives. She volunteered as homeroom mom, worked in the cafeteria and supervised playground duty during their elementary school years. While her children were in middle school, Sally worked part-time in the library and school office. While they were in high school, Sally helped to plan prom and graduation ceremonies. In 2004, Sally and Tom moved to Texas for four years before moving to Roger, Ark., where they retired. Sally was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rogers, Ark. In addition, she was an active member of PEO Chapter U of Rogers, Ark. Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Hester Lyon and Addison Armstrong II; brother, Addison Cooke Armstrong III; and her husband of 44 years, Thomas Carter Galyon. Survived to cherish her memories are her son, Addison Carter and his wife Mary Flynn of Hampshire, Illinois; her daughter Ashley Lyon and her wife Heather Dawn of Rogers, Ark.; and her grandchildren, Grace Elizabeth, Audrey Flynn, and Ella Rose of Hampshire, Illinois, and Asher Thomas of Rogers, Ark.
