Charlotte Ficklin Murry crossed over into Heaven in the early morning of Wednesday, November 9, 2022. Born on April 17, 1935, to Horace David and Augusta (Gussie) Wall Ficklin, in Charleston, Mo. Charlotte enjoyed an idyllic small town childhood with her two sisters, Charmian and Marjorie. They rode horses, walked on stilts, learned to sing and play piano and generally had the kind of fun she told her children about their whole lives. In high school Charlotte played the clarinet and was the bass drum player in the marching band. She often talked about the "great fun" she had with her friends going to football games, track meets, and tearing around town in a car packed with teenagers. Charlotte attended William Woods College in Fulton, Mo., in 1953. She then enrolled in nurses training at Barnes Hospital at Washington University in St. Louis. There she met her beloved husband, Dr. Tom Murry, who was a fun-loving dental student from Malvern, Ark. They married on December 23, 1955. After a short stint in Fort Collins, Colo., where Tom was Captain U.S. Army Dental Corps, they settled in North Little Rock, establishing a successful dental practice in the historical building at 3505 JFK Blvd. Tom and Charlotte went on to have four beautiful children; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, all of whom they dearly loved. They were most happy together on their every Thursday trips to Murry Lands, walking the trails in the woods, which they continued for many decades, and at their family lakehouse on Lake Catherine. Charlotte taught her children well about the beauty of nature and its value in our everyday lives. Charlotte sang soprano in the choir at Lakewood United Methodist Church for 60 years. A faithful supporter of the church, she also taught Sunday school, was active in UMW her entire life and was a longstanding member of the Paul Martin Sunday school class at the church. Charlotte served as president of the North Little Rock Junior League and was a sustaining member for many years. She was also a beloved sister in her chapter of P.E.O. When Charlotte learned of her illness she immediately said she wanted to go home and curl up with her dog, Joey, and her cat, Inky Trouble, which is exactly what she did. To the end of her life she captivated all those around her with her decidedly wonderful combination of love and humor. She did dearly love to laugh, and taught those around her to do the same. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Charlotte is predeceased by her husband; and her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Murry. She is survived by her son, Tom (Michele); son David (Beth); and her daughter, Kathryn Bagwell (Robert); grandchildren, Carly Coats, Isabel and Alaina Murry, D.J., Max, and Blake Murry, and Kate and Charlotte Bagwell; and two great-grandchildren, Finley and Milo Coats. She is also survived by her two sisters, Charmian Boyle of Columbia, Mo., and Marjorie Cervantes of Hattiesburg, Miss. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022, from 4-6 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in North Little Rock. A celebration of Charlotte's life will be held at 12 noon on Monday, November 14th, at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 1922 Topf Rd in North Little Rock. Burial will follow in Rest Hills Memorial Park. For those who wish, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Music Program at Lakewood UMC or the Sherwood Humane Animal Shelter in Charlotte's honor.
