Vella Dean Davis

VELLA DEAN DAVIS, 88, of Little Rock, Ark., departed this life on October 5, 2022. She was born on May 27, 1934, in Crocketts Bluff, Ark. After graduation from Immanuel High School in Almyra, Ark., Vella moved to Little Rock and met and married the "Love of her Life", the late Evans "Tyree" Davis. This union would last for 65 years. Vella would later attend Philander Smith College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Vella worked in the Little Rock School District for 35 years as a librarian and school teacher. She retired in 1996. Vella is preceded in death by: husband, Evans T. Davis; sisters, Cora Avery and Willie B. Tyler. She is survived by: sisters, Louise Jones, Hester Bledsoe; children, Larry Davis (Ladoris) of Garland, Texas, Donald Davis (Veda) of Mesquite, Texas. Eva Davis of Little Rock, Ark., Reginald Davis (Cynthia) of Little Rock, Ark., McKinley Davis (Carolyn) of Little Rock, Ark., Michael Davis (Shonda) of Ft. Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Waylon White, Jaron Davis, Brent Davis, Tiffany Cross, Jasmine Davis, Terrance Davis, Brittney McAdoo, Jason Randle, Abrian White; several great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law. Funeral service: Saturday, October 15, 2022, 11 a.m., Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church #3, 3801 Springer BLVD., Little Rock, 72206. Viewing will take place one hour prior to funeral service at the church, as well as Friday, October 14, 2022, noon-5 p.m., at Ruffin and Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 S. Chester St., Little Rock, 72202. Interment will Immediately follow the funeral service at Rest in Peace Memorial Gardens, Hensley, AR. Mask required to attend any event.
