Pearl Ellen (Murphree) Perkins, age 96, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022, at home in Rogers, Ark., with her daughter, Patsy Roycroft, and granddaughter, Kimberly Roycroft, by her side. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 14 years ago. She was born the youngest of six siblings in Coffeeville, Miss., on September 4, 1926, to Frank Murphree and Blanche (Davis) Murphree. As a young child, her family moved to Tallulah, La., where she graduated from Tallulah High School in 1944. After graduation, she moved to Monroe where she began her career as a bookkeeper. She worked as a bookkeeper until 1971. She met and married Don Perkins in 1952 in Shreveport. To this union three children were born: Patricia (Patsy), Dean, and Cynthia. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage prior to Don's death in 2005. Pearl loved to fish, often catching the largest fish or the most fish. She loved gardening and working in the yard. Many friends and neighbors enjoyed the fruits of her harvest. Her yards were beautifully maintained, not a weed in sight and there was an array of beautiful flowers, trees, and shrubs. She was preceded in death by her parents; five siblings; and Don. She is survived by her daughters, Patsy Roycroft of the home in Rogers, Ark., Dean (Debbie) Perkins of Broaddus Texas, and Cynthia (Michael Shook) Perkins of Vashon, Wash.; and her beloved granddaughter, Kimberly Roycroft, also of the home. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends from Rogers who all loved "Granny." Visitation is Friday, October 28, 2022, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., in Shreveport from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. with services beginning at noon.
