On July 11, 2022, Mary Anne Holloway Hodges, peacefully joined God's heavenly choir after 82 years of life filled with joy, some sorrows, and much love. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Joseph William (Bill) Hodges of Bedford, Texas; daughters, Nancy Hodges Edwards and her husband Joe of Mount Pleasant, Texas and Susan Hodges of Bedford, Texas; granddaughters, Jessica Edwards of Plano, Texas, Chelsea Edwards Wyatt and her husband Stephon of Dallas, Texas; Cassidy Edwards of Dallas, Texas; siblings, Harriet Holloway Herman (husband Delbert deceased) of Austin, Texas; James Wilson Holloway and his wife Denise of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and several much loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary Anne was born in Little Rock, Ark., to James Wilson Holloway and Bonita Mae Warren Holloway and grew up in North Little Rock, Ark., where she met and married the love of her life, Billy Joe. After some relocations, the birth of her two girls, and attaining her bachelor's degree from the University of Houston, Mary Anne and family relocated to Humble where she worked as a speech therapist and educational diagnostician for the Humble Independent School District and attained three master's degrees. She finished her career working at Burbank Middle School in the Houston ISD. Mary Anne was an active member of the choir at First Baptist Church Houston and enjoyed many choir trips all over the world. After retiring, she and Bill relocated to Bedford, Texas to be nearer to family but she always cherished the friendships from her FBC and Humble days. Mary Anne was an avid crafter, a collector of angels, thorough researcher of the family genealogy, and active social media participant. Although she will be missed, her family knows that she is with our Heavenly Father and is free from the pain that plagued her in the last years of her life. A memorial service for Mary Anne will be held at the Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst, Texas, Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, at 2 p.m. A live stream of the service will be available.
