Denva Lee Glaze

Denva Lee Glaze found rest in the arms of Jesus, Saturday, September 17, 2022, peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was born and raised in Mabelvale, Ark. She attended Mabelvale High School where her first major accomplishment was being the editor of the school paper. She found her faith at a young age and became active in the Mabelvale Methodist Church. At the age of 18 she met the love of her life, Johnny. After many journeys between Mabelvale and North Little Rock, she moved to North Little Rock and they were married on December 24, 1954, where they started their marriage of 66 years. Their ministry started at Cato Methodist Church, and then Mayflower Methodist Church, as youth directors in 1961, they found their church home at LRCC. She taught Sunday school, and was instrumental in every aspect of the church. She led the singing and sang beautiful solos with the voice of an angel. She became involved with the Southwest Gospel Singers where she felt so blessed to share her love of God with so many. She worked at Pfeiffer's and BCBS, then stayed home to raise her family, then returned to work at Heritage Company and retired after 29 years. Denva was preceded in death by beloved husband, Johnny; her mother and father, Lilly Belle and Clyde Ellington; birth father, Harold Spillman, Aunt and Uncle Grace and Rex Brown. She is survived by son Craig Glaze (Laura) of North Little Rock; two daughters, Cynthia Fortson (Gary) of Cabot and Christina Vail (Charles) of Austin; grandchildren, Erik (Belle) Fortson of Washington, Cory (Delee) Fortson and Alex (Dustin) Lyles , Johnny Craig Glaze, Jr., Drew (Heather) Herring; great-grandchildren, Lillia Fortson, Jaxson Lyles, Ralee Lyles, Asher Lyles, Oaklee Fortson, Kalliope Fortson, Oliver Fortson; brother Les Spillman (Marty), Johnny Ellington; and sisters, Marilyn White, Janet (Bobby) Harrell. A special Thank You and Gratitude to all the Caregivers for their love, compassion, and support for our Mother. Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, from 6-8 p.m., and funeral services Friday, September 23, at 1:30 p.m., both at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd, North Little Rock.
