Iris Borrok Oliva

IRIS BORROK OLIVIA, 77 of Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022. She was born in Manhattan on May 26, 1945. Attended public schools in NYC and Miami and graduated from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in 1966 with a degree in Social Studies and held Masters degrees in Special Education (UCA) and in Social Work (FIU). She met her husband, Robert R. Oliva, at FAU, and they remained in love since he crashed her 21st birthday party in 1966. She was a teacher, a social worker, and a devoted volunteer at Temple B'Nai Israel, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, adult education teacher, and Board member. In Florida she was President of the Dade-Broward Lupus Foundation and was editor of its newsletter. She is survived by her husband Robert; her foster son Rabbi Claudio Kogan, M.D.; her nieces Arlene, Dori, Leslie, and Natalie; her nephews Chris and Rick; and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and great friends. A graveside funeral will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 1:30 p.m., at Oakland Jewish Cemetery, Little Rock, Ark. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
