Larry Dale Shireman, 72, of Hot Springs went to his Heavenly Home January 12, 2023. Larry was born in DeWitt, Ark., to the late Fay Wright and Mary Louise (Webb) Shireman. He attended Henderson State, and then received a nursing degree from Phillips County Community College. He wore many hats and was known in Southeast Arkansas as "Wood duck"! His greatest accomplishment began when he turned his life around at 50 years old and made a commitment to serve God in the ministry of serving to help others with addictions. He served at Teen Challenge for four years and helped to establish The Father's House in Donaldson, Ark. He also made an impact serving the entire recovery community of Hot Springs at Shalom Recovery Centers and the Harbor House. Larry was a founding and acting Board Member of the Ark of Praise and Father's House. He is survived by the love of his life, Eleanor Evans Shireman, a son Larry Dale Shireman II (Woody), granddaughters Jayden and Emley Shireman, a sister Linda Shireman Hesser, a special daughter in law, Rachael Merritt, his beloved dog Lacy, and a host of nieces and nephews who knew him as "Uncle Duck." A visitation will begin at noon, Monday, January 16th at the Ark of Praise with a Celebration of Larry's life beginning at 2 p.m., with Bro. Gary Jennings, Bro. Kevin Jester, and Bro. Van Glidewell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Father's House at P.O. Box 129, Bismarck, Ark., 71929. Guests may register at www.caruth-hale.com.
