Christopher William Wehe, loving brother and friend, whose extraordinary faith and loving light brought peace to those who knew him, died peacefully October 20, 2023 at the age of 70. One of the greatest joys for Chris was his worship of our Lord, and he has now gone home to be with Him and his parents. Christopher, known to most as "Chris" was born February 17, 1953 to the late Pauline Mae Lott and John Henry Wehe III, in Antigo, Wis. He grew up a child of an Air Force officer and moving was common to Chris. He attended grade school in Tucson, Ariz., and high school in Lompoc, Calif. before graduating from Jacksonville High School in 1971. After high school, Chris joined the Air Force, following in his father's footsteps, where he worked for several years as an airplane mechanic. After leaving military service in 1980, he started a long career working for the Veterans Administration in Little Rock, and finally retiring in 2021. A longtime resident of Jacksonville, Ark., Chris was a dedicated member of the Hope Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and regularly attended meetings of The Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) organization of Little Rock. Everyone who knew Chris knew how much he loved to play guitar. His strong faith gave him a passion for spreading the word of Our Lord. He also had a passion for helping others. Chris was able to combine his loves and would often bring his guitar to play for the youth ministry at Fellowship Church in North Little Rock. "The world is my church," he would say as he shared the Lord's word wherever and whenever circumstances allowed. Family was also a major importance in Chris' life. He grew up with three siblings who he remained very close with. He enjoyed sharing stories of his childhood with his great nieces and nephews. Chris is survived by his brother Geoffrey Wehe; sisters, Marville Victoria Vandever, and Jacqueline Law; nine nieces and nephews, Jenny Wehe (Lisa), Betsy Wehe, John Wehe (Kari), Emily Anderson (Brandon), Aaron McCann (Jennifer), Ross Vandever (Amy), Allison Vandever (Mark), Chad Law and Samantha Law-DeMatteo (Eric); 15 great-nieces and nephews, Joseph Wehe, Ceara Gannon, Hope Anderson, Corrine McCann, Bryson McCann, Lucy McCann, Callie McCann, Hudson Vandever, Jadie- Ruth Wehe, Naomi Wehe, Isaiah Wehe, Eden Wehe, Eleanor Vandever, Charley- Mae DeMatteo, and Dean Kenneth DeMatteo. Chris's warm and loving light will remain in all of our hearts forever. Chris wanted to share these final thoughts with you all: "On my way home to meet the Father it occurred to me how blessed my life has been, and you all had a huge part in that. Please know that I have loved and cherished you all, ever since the day I met you. I will admit that at times I had a funny way of showing it, and for that I am sorry. I am sad to leave this earth with my friends and family behind because I love you all so dearly. But this is not a sad time, it is a glad time; as I get to go see our Father, Yahweh, in Heaven and spend more time with Joshua. So please look around and say out loud, "I love you" to each other. I did not express it often enough, but I loved you all and always will. So please say it for me now to each other. Please praise God for the good times we have shared for God knew what he was doing. Amen. Until we meet on the other side, and meet we will, God Bless you all. Love, Chris." Many thanks to the Arkansas Veterans Hospital staff in the Palliative Care / Hospice unit for taking such wonderful care of Chris. Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Chapel Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Conger officiating.
