Ralph Alfred Tate, Jr., age 74, of Alma won the victory and went home to be with his Savior Saturday, March 23, 2024. He was born May 17, 1949, the son of the late Ralph Tate, Sr. and Mildred Tate. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy; as well as his brothers, Max and Mart Tate. "Junior" was a 1967 graduate of Elkins High School and had a long career at Fayetteville Fire Department from 1978 to 2002, where he retired as a Battalion Chief. He went on to retire from a second career at Razorback Transit. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Fayetteville for over 40 years, where he served the Lord faithfully as a Deacon before moving to Alma. He was a current member of First Baptist Church in Van Buren. In all walks of his life, he spread his love for the Lord through a listening ear and compassionate heart and touched immeasurable lives during his time on earth. He is survived by one son, Stephen Tate and his wife Mindy of Mulberry; two daughters, Catherine Smith and her husband Jeff of Wynne, and Rebecca Tate of Alma. He also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren, Isaac and Autumn Tate, Kyleigh, Faith, and Greyson Smith, and Edward, Charlotte, and Millie Tate. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Tate. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 29, at Nelson Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1410 N. Porter Road, in Fayetteville. Interment will follow at Parks Cemetery in Winslow.
