Eugene H. Stokes

Eugene H Stokes of Sherwood passed from this life on March 25, 2024, at the age of 87. Born in Grace, Miss., on September 11, 1936, he was the third of seven children to parents Sisson and Maedell Ford Stokes. He was preceded in death by his parents; and six siblings. Gene is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carol, sons, Dale, Mark; daughter, Kathy Stokes; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He graduated high school from Rolling Fork, Miss., and went on to attend community college and serve in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He retired after 30 years at Superior Forwarding, then took on a few other occupations that interested him such as Sherwood Wildlife Control Officer. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024, followed by a 2 p.m. service at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial in Sherwood, Ark.
