Robert Lawrence Beene, "Larry", age 84, passed away Sunday, March 24th, 2024, at Washington Regional Hospital. Larry was proceeded by his wife, Dolores Cash Taylor Beene; his parents, John Allen and Florence Christian Beene; brothers, Sonny Beene, LT Beene, Leon Beene; sisters, Shirley Morris and Louise Beene. Larry is survived by his four children, Robert Beene of Centerton, Ark., Sandra Boen of Fayetteville, Ark., Jeff Beene and wife Tammy of Greenville, Texas, and Marla Beene of Akron, Iowa; brother, Pat Beene of Bowling Green, Ky.; sister, Jayne Sandberg of Iowa City, Iowa. Larry has 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A visitation service will be Friday, March 29, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at Benton County Funeral Home located at 306 N. 4th Street, Rogers, Ark. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 30th, at 2 p.m. at the Snowball Baptist Church, Snowball, Ark., burial following at McMahan Cemetery. Larry was born in Itawamba County, Miss., December 8, 1939. His family moved to Hughes, Ark., when Larry was very young. Growing up, Larry enjoyed riding horses and going camping with his cousins, farming, and throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and reading. Larry and Dolores were married July 22, 1962, and enjoyed a loving 55 years together. Larry was a 1965 graduate of Arkansas State College. He worked for Helena Chemical Company and Monroe Calculator in the late 1960s, and in the early 1970s he worked as a salesman for Lehn and Fink Products until retiring in the mid-1990s. Larry was one of the first "vendors" to move to northwest Arkansas in 1977 to be near the growing Wal-Mart company. Larry received many awards and recognitions during his career. Larry enjoyed a long retirement, traveling with his wife Dolores, spending time with family, and maintaining a "hobby" farm. He loved visiting with friends and neighbors. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Rogers, Ark., and attended Snowball Baptist Church. He held a special place in his heart for the congregations of both churches. Larry was known for his smoked brisket, delicious chili recipe, and his beautiful vegetable gardens he and Dolores planted every year. He spent many hours with his children and grandchildren. He was beloved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed.
