Not playing games anymore

Our southern border seems to stay in the headlines, what with all this wall business and migrants. Then came the next escalation in threats from our president: Donald Trump has threatened to close the southern border if things don't start going his way and soon. Then he backed off. Then he backed on again.

It's a bit hard to quantify how shutting the border would impact our country in the minds of your average American, but on Monday we got a real and serious threat we could all understand.

Seems the United States imports a significant bit of produce from Mexico. In particular, avocados. And a grower told Fox News that if the border is closed, America would run out of the fruit in three weeks.

Forget the fact that avocado toast would take a serious hit if we run out of this fruit. The real target here is guacamole. Tex-Mex restaurants all across the state would be forced to raise prices and eventually remove the staple from their menus.

Our considered editorial opinion: This is getting serious, y'all.
