Medical decisions

Thank you for your recent guest column, "Leave medicine to the doctors."

My mother was an R.N. and my brother is a physician. Their dedication to their professions and their patients' care is beyond reproach. I believe that medical decisions are best made by a person, doctor and family, not by politicians. I too share Dr. Marvin Singleton's alarm at the direction that some politicians want to take us, and their insistence on promoting their own personal beliefs at the expense of women's health care.

It seems wiser to me to provide girls and women, and boys and men, with easily available, accurate information about their reproductive health. They would then be better able to make educated decisions for themselves.

Medicine has a language that has worked for centuries. Let's use it, not rewrite it. And especially not by a group of people with very personal agendas and little or no medical training.
