May is peak month for tornadoes in Arkansas

Statistics show May was the peak month for tornadoes in Arkansas over a 30-year period.

Numbers released Thursday from the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center showed May as the month with the greatest number of tornadoes from 1981 to 2010. April came in second and November was third.

Robinson said that during the 30-year period from 1971 to 2000, April was the peak month for tornadoes in Arkansas.
