— A Little Rock man wanted in the fatal shooting of a man early Sunday escaped after authorities tried to stop him early Thursday morning.

Anthony Donnell Toombs, 37, was named Wednesday as a suspect in the death of 42-year-old Eddie Larkin, who was found shot on the porch of a home in the 1600 block of South Brown Street. Larkin died a short time later at UAMS Medical Center.

North Little Rock Police Department Sgt. Brian Dedrick said officers tried to stop Toombs for a traffic violation as he drove a truck in the 1700 block of Division Street before at some point before 5 a.m. An exact time was not immediately available.

The truck didn't stop, continuing at low speeds for about five blocks before Toombs got out and ran, police said.

Dedrick said Toombs escaped and North Little Rock officers found out later that he was wanted in Little Rock in the killing.

Little Rock detectives were called to the scene to investigate, and the truck was towed for evidence processing.

Authorities in Little Rock warned that Toombs should be considered armed and dangerous, adding he has made the statement previously that he "will not go to jail."
