Gunman knocks, robs family at NLR hotel

A man who knocked on a hotel room door claiming to have been involved in an accident instead robbed the married couple inside at gunpoint while their 9-year-old granddaughter was there, authorities said.

It happened shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday at the Days Inn at 5800 Pritchard Drive in North Little Rock.

The 69-year-old husband told investigators the man knocked while "stating his vehicle was involved in an accident." When the man opened the door, the robber pushed a handgun to his chest, forced him to the back of the room and shoved him against the wall, the report said.

The gunman forced the man and his 68-year-old wife to lie on the floor and their 9-year-old granddaughter to go into the bathroom while he took a wallet and cash from a purse.

Police say the gunman then told the family members to stay where they were for five minutes while he fled the area.

The only injury reported was a small scratch on the 69-year-old man's left wrist when he was pushed against the wall.

The robber is described as a black man in his early 20s who stood about 6 feet tall with a slender build, light beard and dreadlocks. He was reportedly wearing all black.

No arrests have been made.
