Greenwood animal control officer to get radio

The Greenwood City Council has decided to outfit its animal control officer with a radio after he was attacked by a pack of dogs.

The Southwest Times Record reports city leaders approved the $2,700 expenditure for the hand-held radio on Monday.

Police Chief Will Dawson told council members the employee was recently attacked by at least three dogs while on assignment. He says the worker fended off the animals with a pole and used his cellphone to call for help.

No injuries were reported.

Council members appropriated the money from the city's general fund.
