Sam Lester and Friends Youth Fishing Derby

The Sam Lester and Friends Youth Fishing Derby was held in June along the shoreline of the Little Red River at John F. Kennedy Park just below the dam on Greers Ferry Lake. This event marked the 25th year the tournament has been held, often in conjunction with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Free Fishing Weekend. Roughly 200 children participated, with Lester saying that expectations for next year’s derby include an increase of about 50 kids. Photos by James K. Joslin
