Darby Memorial

Fort Smith's new memorial to Gen. William O. Darby depicts the World War II hero riding a 1942 Harley-Davidson WLA. The tribute to the Fort Smith native who founded the U.S. Army Rangers was conceived by the Darby Legacy Project committee, created by artist Kevin Kresse and cast in bronze at The Crucible foundry in Norman, Okla. Kresse did most of the sculpting in a workshed attached to the warehouse behind Martin Borchert Co. in North Little Rock over the course of 2015.
