THEA FOUNDATION Broadway producer has spotlight at THEA party

— Broadway producer Elizabeth Williams, a native of Arkadelphia, was the special guest at a party March 16 at the Edgehill home of Kaki Hockersmith and Max Mehlburger to benefit the THEA Foundation.

The area and buffet table were decorated with play programs along with comedy and tragedy masks amongst the roses and camellias. Catering was by Capers and included mini stuffed potatoes and pork tenderloin. Iced cookies were shaped like Easter rabbits.

Williams, the winner of 17 Tony Awards, was in town to lead an actor's workshop the next day for 40 students, whom she taught how to put a musical together. They worked on it during the day, and later they showed her what they had created.

"We're all about the arts," David Leopoulos, founder of THEA, said. THEA has given 75 scholarships to art students across the state in partnership with colleges and universities. Lindaand David Leopoulos presented Willliams with a Greek coin with the name of their daughter, Thea, whose life inspired the foundation.

To entertain, Kathryn Pryor sang show tunes from Broadway musicals, accompanied by David Glaze.

Mike Beebe, Jo Ellen and Mayor Mark Stodola, Linda and Mayor Pat Hays of North Little Rock, Beverly and County Judge Buddy Villines, Robin and Tom Steves, Sarah and Walter Nunnelly, Frances and Wayne Cranford, Nancy Steenburgen, Sherry Curry and Grainger Williams, Bill Trice, Julia Peck Mobley of Texarkana, Jim Conner, Jimmie Lou Fisher, Beth Brickell, Pat Morrow, Judy Tennenbaum, Rebecca Ward, Ann Nicholson, Sue Frueaff, Anna Kay Williams, Vince Insalaco, Carolyn and Jerry Staley, Julia and Bill Watt, Rose Crane and Steve Stephens.
