Arkansas Tech sets building dedication

— Nutt Hall will be formally dedicated in honor of John W. Nutt and his wife, Joie, during ceremonies on the Arkansas Tech University campus at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The ceremony, which will be at the Nutt Hall east entry, is open to the public.

Arkansas Tech announced last week that the on-campus student housing facility previously known as Summit Hall would be renamed Nutt Hall as of Oct. 2.

John W. Nutt is a 1957 Arkansas Tech graduate who was inducted into the Arkansas Tech Hall of Distinction in 1973. In2005, he added the title of Presidential Fellow of Arkansas Tech when the university honored him at commencement ceremonies. He also served as honorary co-chairman of the university's recent "Return to Glory" capital campaign.

He and his wife, the former Joie Thompson, have been married for 51 years. They live in Little Rock.

Nutt Hall is at the corner of El Paso Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Russellville.

It is five stories tall and provides living accommodations to 338 students. The building opened in fall 2002.
