Hot Springs hosts farm-day activities

— Area families are invited to dress in overalls and bring the cameras, children and grandchildren to "A Day at the Farm," an oldfashioned harvest festival with entertaining and educational activities for all ages.

The event is hosted by the Friends of the Farmers' Market.

It will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Historic Downtown Farmers' Market in the Transportation Plaza at Orange Street. Most activities will be free of charge.

A pumpkin patch photo backdrop with fall crops and hay bales will be provided.

Amateur photographers can bring their entries for a farm photo contest involving photos of farm produce, farm landscapes and farm animals.

The event also will include live music, a farm animal petting zoo, old-fashioned children's games, contests and refreshments, face painting, story telling, a fall plant sale and craft demonstrations.

Quality handmade crafts will be sold along with a variety of fresh produce from local farmers.The event celebrates the last day of the 2007 Farmers' Market season.
