Bluesman, 94, to attend film

— Pinetop Perkins, a 94-year-old bluesman, will be saluted twice on Wednesday in Hot Springs.

Peter Carlson's documentary film, Born in the Honey: The Pinetop Perkins Story, will be shown at 6:15 p.m. at the Malco Theater, 819 Central Ave., as part of the 16th annual Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival.

After the 60-minute film is screened, Carlson will take questions from the audience.

The Spa City Blues Society and Unknown Legends Artists are flying Perkins in to attend the screening. He will be honored afterward at an invitation-only reception at a gallery on Bathhouse Row.

Perkins has played with B.B. King, Muddy Waters and Earl Hooker in his long career, and has headlined several concerts at the Eureka Springs Blues Festival and the Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival in Helena-West Helena.
