UAM holds contest to find centennial slogan

— The University of Arkansas at Monticello, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2009, is seeking ideas and suggestions for a centennial slogan.

All dues-paying members of the UAM Alumni Association, faculty emeriti, current full-time faculty, staff, and students may submit suggestions for consideration, said Linda Yeiser, vice chancellor for advancement.

Prizes jointly funded by the UAM Alumni Association and Foundation Fund will include recognition in news releases and a future issue of UAM Magazine. If a student submits the winning slogan, that student will receive a one-year tuition scholarship. If the winning slogan comes from an alumnus, faculty or staff member, the winner will receive a permanent marker on campus.

The winning slogan will be chosen by a committee appointed by Chancellor Jack Lassiter and will be announced at the campus Christmas tree lighting ceremony in late November.

The deadline for submitting a slogan is Nov. 1. All slogans must be submitted in writing to the UAM Office of Advancement, Box 3520, Monticello, Ark. 71656 or online by going to www.uamont.edu/alumni/ centennial.htm.
