HELEN RUTH "BOONE" ARNOLD, 73, of Little Rock, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, in Hot Springs. Born Sept,28, 1934, in Foley, Ala., to James Albert & Ruby Mae (Campbell) Boone, she was a Member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Edward Arnold, formerly of Little Rock; son, Joe Edward Arnold Jr., and his wife Jane of Destin, Fla.; daughters, Tena M. Arnold of Hot Springs and Jeudi Arnold Williams and her husband Bill of Lake Village, Ark.; grandchildren, William (Buddy) E. Williams and his wife Mary, Joseph J. Williams and his wife Marissa, Jessica L. Arnold, Kala M. Arnold and Seth M. Arnold; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald Boone of Foley, Ala. and Bill Boone of Mobile, Ala.; sister, Betty Fell of Summerdale, Ala.; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

LORENE L. CASEY, 88, died Oct. 24, 2007, in Little Rock, Ark., following a brief illness. She was bornJune 3, 1919, to Andrew Fletcher and Cornelius Alford Lewis in Revels, White County, Ark., and was third of five children, three boys and two girls, born to the family. At age 6, her family moved from White County to LittleRock where she spent the rest of her life.

She was a 1937 graduate of Central High School (Little Rock High School) and on Aug. 29, 1941, married her life-long partner, J. Ralph Casey. She and Ralph spent much of their lives raising their children and pursuing their careers - Ralph at the Arkansas Democrat and Lorene with the State of Arkansas-Employment Security Division. Throughout her life she was an exemplary wife, mother and homemaker, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, volunteer, neighbor, nurse and mentor in the lives of so many who treasured her loyalty and ever-present smile. She was active in her sorority, Delta Theta Tau, the North Little Rock Women's Club; a lifetime member of Arkansas Federation Garden Clubs and a member of the Elmhurst Garden Club in Little Rock for more than 60 years.

At the October 2006 Annual Meeting of the Arkansas Waterways Commission, the Department of the Army along with the Commission honored her with a Certificate of Appreciation and an Army Medallion for the role she played in 1937 prior to the development of the current McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System. As an outstanding stenographer in her senior high class, Lorene, along with two other students, were selected to serve as scribes for a series of public hearings held throughout the state from Camden to Harrison. Historical records of those proceedings would not exist today were it not for the work of Lorene and the other high school girls selected for this important role. She was an active member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Little Rock where she was a member of the Robert Moore Bible Class.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Kay Casey Bowren; three brothers: Cornelius Lewis, Harold George Lewis and Harry Wade Lewis; one grandson, James Andrew Casey. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, J. Ralph Casey of Little Rock; a son and daughter-in-law, Lewis R. Casey and wife, Carol of Sherwood; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lewis Ridgway and husband Don of Little Rock; a granddaughter and her husband, Heather Casey Metzler and husband, Steve; two great-grandsons, Steven and Matthew Metzler all of Little Rock; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Little Rock with Reverend David Moore and Reverend Carness Vaughan officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hills Cemetery, 3500 Lawson Road, Alexander, Ark.

Lt. Col. OWEN KEAN JR., USAF (Ret.), 82, of Little Rock, died Tuesday, October 23, 2007. He was a veteran of World War II and Vietnam.

JACK H. WILSON, 89, of Little Rock, a retired professional engineer and former Manager-Engineer of Little Rock Municipal Water Works, died Monday, October 22, 2007. He served the Little Rock waterworks for 42 years to bring fresh water to the citizens of Central Arkansas. He was Manager-Engineer of the water utility for 21 years from 1962-1983. He was instrumental in the siting and construction of Lake Maumelle as the primary provision for Little Rock consumers. After his retirement, he was selected as Interim Manager of the North Little Rock Wastewater Utility. He also served as a consultant to the wastewater utility. Jack served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II and spent 27 months in Alaska. He retired from the military as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. Determined to earn a college education, Jack saved his dimes until 1935, when he had $300, enough to pay for all expenses his freshman year. He earned a bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. In English class at Old Main, he met his wife-to-be, Mary E. Swisher. They were married September 24, 1939.

Besides his cherished wife of 68 years, "Pappaw," as he was affectionately known, leaves his two daughters, Jacqueline "Lynn" Senn and husband, Jerry of Little Rock; Susie Marsh and husband, Jim of Little Rock; and grandchildren, Becky Moore and husband, Tony; John Major and wife, Jennifer; and Susan, Mary, Andrew, and Peter Marsh. "Pappaw" leaves four greatgrandchildren, Carson, Madison, and McKenzie Moore and Michael Major; and niece, Myra Jane Biggers of Jonesboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace Jamison Wilson and Jack Elic Wilson, and brother, Russell Wilson.

Jack faithfully attended Westover Hills Presbyterian Church. He disliked dishonesty, flattery, and waste. Jack's legacy is service, excellence and integrity in waterutility operations, and equal opportunity for all employees. The Jack H. Wilson Water Treatment Plant is named in his honor.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2007, at Westover Hills Presbyterian Church. Arrangements provided Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth. EMILY DELORIS WRIGHT, 64, of Little Rock passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2007. She was bornMarch 9, 1943, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to James H. and Lillian Lee Barrett. She was a member of Crystal Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, of 49 years, Amos A. BENTON - H.M. Arnold, was born June 5, 1919 in Hartman, Ark. and passed away Oct. 23, 2007 in Benton, Ark. He was the youngest of five children born to Hervey Marvin Arnold Sr. and Lenora Virginia Wilson Arnold who predeceased him.

He is survived by his son. Circuit Judge Gary M. Arnold (Debbie) of Benton; his granddaughter, Dr. Emily A. Hinton (Dr. Tommy) of Fayetteville, and his two great-grandchildren, Connor and Kate, also of Fayetteville. Mr. Arnold is also survived by his nephews, Dr. Arnold Williams (Bette) of Springdale, Ben Alan Arnold (Joeanne) of Montgomery, Texas, and Ragon Don Kinne Sr. (Gail) of Albuquerque, N.M., and by his nieces, Ruth MacAllister (Don) of Lane, Okla., Peggy Burdine of LaFeria, Texas, Carole Williams Allen (Jim) of Sheridan, Suzanne Kinney Crowson (Jim) of Conway, and Joanna Pyle of New Jersey. His brother, Ben F. Arnold of Rio Hondo, Texas, and sisters, Mabel Moses of LaFeria, Texas, Virginia Williams of Sheridan, and Pat Kinney of Bauxite,predeceased him.

Mr. Arnold was a 1937 graduate of Hartman High School and attended Arkansas Polytechnic University (Arkansas Tech) from 1939-1941. While there, he was vice-president of his class and a member of the boxing team. He was a member of the Russellville National Guard and the Army Air Corp. He served as a merchant marine and commercial seaman from 1942 until his retirement in 1983.

A graveside service and burial will be held on Friday, Oct. 26, 11 a.m. at West Mount Zion Cemetery in Hartman. The service will be under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home in Clarksville. FORDYCE - Charles Norwine Cannon Sr., 86, of Fordyce died Wednesday, October 24, 2007, in Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born July 4, 1921, in Crossett, Arkansas. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fordyce and was a retired pilot for the Naval Air Force. He was also an assistant to Dallas County Judge Troy Bradley for 12 years and pilot for Harry Russell. He was also an avid golfer and sportsman.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Nell Norwine Cannon; his first wife and mother of his children, Virginia Morgan Cannon; and the godmother of his children, Lucy "Tunk" Darling. He is survived by his wife, Inez Gilbert Cannon of Fordyce; one son, Charles N. Cannon II of Hot Springs; two daughters, Cindy Adler of Lufkin, Texas, and Ceca Cooper of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 10 grandchildren and several greatgrandchildren and special friend, Buster Garlington of Fordyce.

HEBER SPRINGS - Barbara Kay Hayes, 69, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, after an extended illness. She was a retired nurse with the Arkansas Department of Human Services.

Ms. Hayes was born in Clinton, Tenn., on February 24, 1938, to Eva (Lucas) and Longmire Duncan Miller. She grew up in Norris, Tennessee, graduating from Norris High School in 1956. She received her RN degree from the Baptist School of Nursing in Memphis in 1959 and later served as a faculty member of the school. In 1973, she moved to Heber Springs with her family and was active in many local organizations including the Opti-Mrs. Club and Cub Scouts. She earned a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Central Arkansas in 1982.

She is survived by three sons: Tom Hayes of Little Rock, Arkansas, Burt (and wife Melissa) Hayes of Memphis, Tennessee, and Jason (and wife Tracy) Hayes of Little Rock. Also surviving her are five grandchildren, Trevor, Reagan, Taylor, Madison, and Audrey; and two sisters, Martha Kennedy of Hernando, Mississippi, and Nora Webb of Powell, Tennessee.

PRATTSVILLE - Charles D. Mitchell, Sr. of Prattsville, Arkansas, wasborn in Boughton, Arkansas on December 7, 1928 the son of the late D. Mitchell and Syble Morgan Mitchell. He was a claims manager for New Hampshire Insurance Company and later owner of Central AdjustmentCompany in Little Rock. He was a member of Sheridan Church of Christ, and he had served in World War II in the Navy, having been on the Aircraft Carrier Valley Forge. Mr. Mitchell died at his home on October 24, 2007, at the age of 78.

SEARCY - Dorothy Viola Clay Barnett was welcomed into the arms ofher loving Savior on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007. She was born in Romance, Ark., Oct. 17, 1917, the daughter of Phillip Malvern and Hettie Pennecy Clay. Dorothy was a precious mother and a true model of God's grace and love toher family and friends. She always spoke of God's love and goodness. Dorothy was always sharing her testimonies with everyone. She taught Sunday School at various churches during her lifetime of service for her Lord.

She is survived by her loving children: Comaletta and Bob Porter of Cabot; Reta and Darrell McCoy of Searcy; Larry and Feona Barnett of Van Buren; and Judy and Robert Garrett of North Little Rock. Also 12 Sweet Grandbabies, Kelli Scott, Kevin Scott, Michele (Keith) Thompson, Jennifer (Bryan) Burris, Rebecca (Jason) Norvell, Matthew (Christy) Barnett, Brittney (Matt) Crowell; Melissa (Scott) Rodgers, Amanda Garrett, Kathy (Charles) McCrotty, Sheila (Brad) Vanaman, and Rick (Summer) McCoy. She was also the proud Great Grandmother of 21 Great Grandbabies. Dorothy is also survived by two sisters of Searcy; Ruby Holeman of Rose Bud; and Dahlia Hartsell of Little Rock, as well as several wonderful nieces and nephews and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Roy Bethel Barnett, her parents, her brother Clint Clay, and sisters Florence Fry, and Reva Mae Gaither.

She was a homemaker and a retired seamstress. She started her career with Tuf-Nut, and later worked for Treadway Shade and Blind, Little Rock Shade and Blind, Carroll's Drapery, and retired as supervisor from Rowland Drapery in 1979.

She will be greatly missed by all, however, we know she no longer struggles but is now enjoying her heavenly rewards.

The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to the many caregivers and friends at Beebe Retirement Center. A special thank you to all the kind members of Arkansas Hospice, especially Sandra Clinton and Peggy Johnson, who ministered and cared for Mom. The family will be at 411 S. Sherwood in Searcy, Ark.

HAWTHORNE, Nev. - Herbert A. Brown, 66, of Hawthorne, Nev., died Oct. 20, 2007, in Murphys, Calif. He was born in Jonesboro, Ark., on Oct., 3, 1941, to James L. and Eunice M. Brown. He was a 1959 graduate of Jonesboro High School and received a B.A. degree in biology from Arkansas State University in 1965. He lived briefly in Connecticut and many years in Houston, Texas, before moving to Nevada. Herb was the Laboratory Manager of the Mount Grant General Hospital in Hawthorne and a member of the Medical Laboratory Advisory Committee for the State of Nevada and the Clinical Laboratory Managers Association. He was attending the annual CLMA conference in Murphys at the time of his death.

He was predeceased by his father and grandparents, James V. and Roxy Brown and H.H. and Lillie Brickell. Survivors include his wife, Stephanie; his daughter and sonin-law, Jennifer and Richard Dix of Las Vegas, Nev.; his mother, Eunice Brown, now residing in Little Rock; sisters, Marilyn Brown of Little Rock and Roxanne Brecheen of Fayetteville, grandchildren, Nate and Gracie Dix, one niece, three nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was extremely active in his community and in life. Herb frequently appeared in community theatre and was a member of the Presbyterian Community Church in Hawthorne and of Elks Lodge No. 1704. He enjoyed restoring pinball machines, camping; and embracing the thrills and joys of life. In May, he fulfilled a life long desire by traveling throughout Europe.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m. at Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church in Little Rock, officiated by Rev. Betty Scull and Rev. Betsy Singleton. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and Arkansas State University.

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. - Robert M. "Bob" Nimocks II, a lovinghusband, father, farmer and successful businessman, passed away at his home in South Carolina on Oct. 23, 2007, after a long illness. He was born in 1927 in Forrest City, Ark. He graduated from Sewanee MilitaryAcademy in 1945 and entered the U.S. Navy to be stationed at the Bremerton Naval Base on Puget Sound. He is a 1950 graduate of the University of Arkansas, a member of Sigma Chi, Blue Key and former chairman of Gaebealee. After 30 years of farming in St. Francis County, Ark., he joined E.F. Hutton & Company in Memphis, Tenn., as an account executive, winning top national awards.

Mr. Nimocks was predeceased by his parents, Alfred B. and Eloise B. Nimocks; and a daughter, Lois N. Beeson. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Greene Nimocks; a daughter, Lynne N. Pawlik; two sons, Robert M. and Walter C. Nimocks; son-in-law, John B. Beeson; and two brothers, A.B. Nimocks Jr. and Dr. Walter B. Nimocks; 10 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
