Bush calls on Republicans to unite behind nominee

— Without naming names, President Bush rallied his party's right wing to get behind the Republican presidential nominee. "The stakes in November are high. This is an important election. Prosperity and peace are in the balance," Bush told the Conservative Political Action Conference meeting in Washington.

"Soon we will have a nominee who will carry a conservative banner into this election and beyond," Bush said.

"I'm absolutely confident that with your help, we will elect a person who shares our principles."

When the president walked on stage, the audience clapped and chanted, "Four more years! Four more years!"

Meanwhile, an Associated Press-Ipsos poll released Friday showed only 30 percent of people think he's doing a good job. That's Bush's all-time low.
