IC Corp. is planning to lay off 300 at its Conway facility, the company announced Friday, Jan. 11, 2008.

IC. Corp. will lay off about 300 workers indefinitely by the end of the month at its Conway school-bus plant, company spokesman Roy Wiley said Friday.

Wiley said a slowdown in the economy is to blame for the cutback. The plant employs more than 1,000, Wiley said by telephone.

The company, which is owned by Navistar International Corp. notified employees in June that orders were slumping and job cuts were likely. Wiley said at the time that the layoffs would not be more than 500.
