LITTLE ROCK — Bruce Plopper has received the 2008 Journalism Educator of the Year award, the Arkansas Press Association announced.
Plopper, a longtime resident of Conway, directs the journalism graduate program at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Mass Communications in the College of Professional Studies.
A teacher in Arkansas since1985, Plopper has spoken to more than 100 high school journalism classes in central Arkansas, and he has coordinated 15 high school journalism conferences through the years.
He has written a handbook for high school journalism advisers and an Arkansas media law text.
Plopper will receive the award at an Arkansas Press Association banquet in July.
