— Little Rock artist Lisa Claas-James will have an exhibit of "dessert art" on display through Dec. 31 at the Vieux Carre restaurant, 2721 Kavanaugh Blvd., Little Rock.

An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and the public is invited to attend.

The restaurant, which adjoins The Afterthought, is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 5:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Born in Fayetteville, Claas-James studied at the Memphis Art Academy and later in Europe, is known for her painstakingly detailed renderings of classical clothing, jewelry and gem-like insects as art. Her latest, "Confections," consists of paintings of doughnuts, cupcakes, lemon tarts and other sweet treats.

Claas-James will donate a percentage from the sale of her paintings to the Arkansas Foodbank Network, and it will be matched by the owners of the restaurant.
