BENTON - Judge Lanny Fite will host a miniature golf tournament at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Harbor Island Adventure Golf in Benton to raise money for Saline County's Central Arkansas Development Council Single Parent Scholarship Fund.
The entry fee is $100 per four-person team. Teams interested in participating can sign up at the Saline County Courthouse at 200 N. MainSt., Room 117 in Benton. Corporate teams and adult-children teams are encouraged to participate.
The scholarships are awarded to single parents pursuing a career-oriented course of study. Scholarship recipients must also have an income at 125 percent of poverty level and be a resident of the county in which they apply for the scholarship.
The Single Parent Scholarship can be used to offset emergencies such as child care, car repair, fuel, books and tuition not covered by other sources. The scholarship is a means for the community to assist single parents in returning to school to improve their marketable skills and make their goals attainable.
