PINE BLUFF — Crews erecting overhead beams above the Interstate 530 bypass will require intermittent 15-minute lane closures today and Sunday, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.
Weather permitting, the work will begin at 7:30 a.m. each day and last through the daylight hours. If the work has to continue into the weekdays, lane-closure hours will be between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., the department said.
Construction will restrict traffic in both directions between Exit 43 (U.S. 63) and Exit 46 (U.S. 65-Pines Mall). The work is part of the $25 million interchange project awarded to Jensen Construction Co. in July 2007. Completion is estimated to be during the summer of 2010.
Motorists should use alternate routes if possible or exercise caution when approaching and traveling through the work zone, the department said.
