— Suspect confessed to theft, police say

While questioning a homeless man Friday in connection with one burglary, the suspect admitted to another, Little Rock police reported.

On July 17, fingerprints matching those of Jackie C. Gipson, 43, were found inside Long Sales Agency Inc. at 914 Barber St. after the business had been burglarized, according to reports.

Police found Gipson about 1:20 p.m. Friday at 201 S. Izard St. As officers questioned Gipson, "he also admitted to breaking into the Shell station at 701 S. Broadway and taking approximately $600 worth of cigarettes," the report said.

Gipson was being held Friday night at the Pulaski County jail with bail set at $15,000. He is charged with two counts each of commercial burglary and theft of property, and one count of criminal mischief, all Class C felonies.

Traffic stop leads

to arrest, charges

A routine traffic stop Friday led to the arrest of a 22-year-old Little Rock man on accusations of fleeing and fighting with police, among other charges.

When Little Rock police attempted to stop Miles Douglas Williams for expired tags, the man "veered recklessly across several lanes of traffic" in the 8000 block of Geyer Springs Road, police reported.

Once he stopped, the "suspect took off running, then fought with officers" when they caught him, the report said. Williams had warrants for his arrest on burglary and theft-of-property charges, both Class B felonies.

He was subsequently charged with second-degree battery, a Class D felony; resisting arrest and fleeing, both misdemeanors; and was cited for driving on a suspended license and failure to obtain tags.

He was being held Friday night at the Pulaski County jail. Bail had not been set.
