GLORIA M. ALLEN, who died Friday in Little Rock at the age of 94, was born Aug. 13, 1915, in Belleville, Ill., to Delos E. and Mary Richard. The family moved to Little Rock in 1919. She attended St. Andrew's Catholic School and Little Rock High School (now Central High). After graduation, she was secretary for three years for Msgr. James P. Moran, Rector of the Cathedral of St. Andrew, until her marriage to Charles Anthony Allen. She later was secretary to Albert L. Fletcher, Bishop of Little Rock, for nine years. After the bishop's retirement, she worked as a real estate agent for Faucett & Company for six years.

She had seven children and is survived by Chad Allen, Diane Allen and her husband Rene E. Bressinck, Richard W. Allen and his wife Brigitte Lefeuvre, Penny Allen and John Mark Allen. She was preceded in death by sons, Francis Avery Allen II and Robert Scott Allen, and by son-in-law James H. Larrison Jr. Known within the family as Doady, she is survived by 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and was preceded in death by grandson, James H. Larrison III.

Charlie and Gloria Allen established a burse to educate priests for the diocese of Little Rock in memory of their son Frank, a Catholic High School graduate and an editor at the Arkansas Gazette who died suddenly in 1965.

Visitation will be at Ruebel Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 24, followed by recitation of the Rosary at 7. Funeral will be at the Cathedral of St. Andrew at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, with Msgr. Francis Malone officiating, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery.

• PATRICIA ANN BUNCH, 77, of Sherwood died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009 in North Little Rock. She was born Aug. 20, 1931 in Natchitoches, La. Mrs. Bunch worked as a bookkeeper.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey L. Stewart; daughter, Robin G. Long; grandsons, Tyler Long and Michael Stewart; granddaughter, Tiffany Stewart, and brother, Ward Belt of Gutherie, Okla.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Jacksonville. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:30-7 p.m., Sunday at the church followed by Rosary at 7 p.m.

• TERRY WAYNE CAGLE, 53, of Jacksonville passed away Aug. 21, 2009.

• ALBERT CROSS JR., 55, of Little Rock slept peacefully into eternity at his home on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009. • LOIS WANDA HARVEY, 79, of North Little Rock, Ark., was born Aug. 17, 1930 and went to live with our Heavenly Father on Aug. 19, 2009. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, James Harry Harvey; daughter, Harriet Dee Richardson; son, Ricky Harvey; and one grandchild, Leza Richardson, all of North Little Rock; two sisters, Irene Mayfield (Heber Springs) and Glenda Griffin (Poplar Bluff, Mo.); countless nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Nellie Lancaster; brother, Charles Lancaster; sisters, Veva Lee Baker and Margaret Brushwood.

A loving wife, mother and aunt, she was also a devout Christian and a member of the 47th Street Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. • JUNIOR LEE MCMINN, 59, of Sherwood, passed away on Friday, Aug. 21, 2009. He was born on Sept. 24, 1949 to the late Oliver and Nellie New McMinn in Dover, Ark. Lee was preceded in death by wife, Pamela Mc-Minn.

Lee retired from IBM Corporation where he worked as a Field Engineer for over 26 years. He proudly served his country in the Air Force. "George" as he was affectionately known loved the outdoors and spending time fishing and hunting.

Lee had a sweet disposition and a loving heart that made him friends with everyone he met.

He is survived by his children, Norman (Ginger) Chronister-Mc-Minn of Russellville, Leisa (Shane) Carter of Alexander, and Chris (Nicole) McMinn of Sherwood; his grandchildren Creedance and Freedom Chronister-McMinn, Danielle and Dixie Carter and Madelyn Mc-Minn; his sisters Patsy (Rick) Hill and Karen McMinn of Tulsa, Okla. and his brother Jimmy McMinn of Tulsa, Okla., and a host of extended family and friends all who will miss him dearly.

• MARCELETTE CHRISTINE NEASE, age 81, of North Little Rock, passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at Arkansas Hospice Center in Little Rock. She was born Sept. 19, 1927, in Bradford, Ark., to Clarence and Lois Williams.

On Sept. 29, 1950, she married Thomas Nease in Benton. Mrs. Nease was employed several years for the State of Arkansas. She retired in 1981.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas, of North Little Rock; two daughters, Cindy (Jay) Brown and Linda Marks, both of North Little Rock; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Williams of San Francisco, Calif.

• CHARLES RAY REYNOLDS, 77, passed away Aug. 20, 2009. Born July 27, 1932, in Dallas, Texas, to George A. and Verna Sanders Reynolds, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a meatcutter for Kroger for 18 years. He was a member of Parkway Place Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Katherine Lane Reynolds; sons, C. Scott Reynolds and wife, Judi of Colorado, Steve C. Reynolds and wife, Lili of Little Rock and Brian K. Reynolds of Missouri; brothers, Albert Leroy Reynolds of San Antonio, Texas, and James E. Reynolds of Sardis; sister, Dorothy McMurray of Texarkana; grandchildren, Di, Amanda, Addi, Kati and Gavin and great-grandchild, Ainsley. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sandra Abdulah and two grandchildren, Krista Lynn Reynolds and Tiffany Danielle Reynolds.

• MYRL M. RUPLE, age 82, of Little Rock, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009. She was born Jan. 17, 1927, in Jerome, Ark., the daughter of Harvey and Bulah Murphy Cash. A member of Oakwood Baptist Church, she enjoyed life, especially spending time with her kids and other family, gardening, especially flowers and loved hummingbirds, whatnots and fishing. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ray and Hubert Cash, and a sister, Ethel Duncan.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Jerry L. Ruple; two sons, Jimmy Hoover and his wife, Martha, of Conway and Henry Hoover and his wife, Judy, of Mayflower, Ark.; two sisters, Letiah Paladino of North Little Rock and Ruby Lloyd of Texas; a brother, Paul Cash of Clinton, Ark.; a sister-in-law, Betty Cash of Clinton, Ark., and five grandchildren.

• CHARLOTTE F. STRALEY, of Little Rock, passed away on Aug. 20, 2009. She was born March 10, 1918, in Lougheed, Alberta, Canada. Her parents were Andrew and Dorothy Chalmers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard U. Straley. Also, preceding her were her parents, two brothers, James Chalmers and Howard Chalmers, and one sister, Mary Cory.

Charlotte is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard P. and La Donna Straley of little Rock, as well as two grandsons, Phillip D. Straley and his wife, Jane, of Hong Kong and David K. Straley of Annapolis, Md.

Charlotte enjoyed a lifelong attachment to music, particularly church music. In her home state of Iowa she sang in a Methodist church choir that was directed by her sister, Mary. After she and her husband, Richard, retired to Florida, she was again active in church music, playing the organ and piano at her church. Then for many years she was the Director of Music at a large Methodist church in Punta Gorda, Fla.

In 2008 she moved to Little Rock to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law. She quickly became active at Trinity United Methodist Church where she volunteered to lead the handbell choir.

Charlotte also enjoyed a lively game of cards and in her later years became an avid bridge player. She will be missed by her family and a long list of friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Mississippi and Evergreen, Little Rock, Ark., 72227. • THEODORE "TED" E. VANN of North Little Rock departed this life Aug. 21. He and his wife, Berniece, owned Ted's Auto & Marine service on Highway 70. Ted was born in Gallup, N.M., June 11, 1935, to Elmer T. and Dorothy (Vilder) Vann. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sandra.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Berniece (Jolly) Vann; two daughters, Terri (Dwain) Guntharp, of Gentry, Ark., and Karen (David) Morton, of Bryant; grandsons, J.D. and Wyatt Guntharp, and Brendon Morton; and granddaughter, Katelyn Morton, and other family, and many, many friends.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. at the John Irvin Pavilion at Burns Park in North Little Rock.

• FORDYCE - Reba Sue Ford, 82, of Fordyce, died Friday Aug. 21, 2009. Mrs. Ford was born in Dallas County on May 1, 1927, to the late Walter Edward and Lula Naylor Jordan. She was a retired receptionist and a member of the Zion Baptist Church.

She is survived by her two sons, Ronnie Ford and his wife, Regina of Fordyce, Ark., Donny Ford and his wife, Rita of Fordyce, Ark.; a daughter, Karen Nutt and her husband, Hugh Albert of Fordyce, Ark.; a sister, Margie Biggs of Benton, Ark.; six grandchildren, Angie Keeton of Fordyce, Ark., Allen Ford of Fordyce, Ark., Andra Ford of North Little Rock, Ark., Cody Shankles of Bryant, Ark., Julie Holland of Owasso, Okla., and Tommy Ford of Fordyce. • FORDYCE - Thomas James "Jim" Pride, 92, of Fordyce, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at St. John's Place in Fordyce. He was born Oct. 12, 1916, in Fordyce. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fordyce and a retired Timber Procurement Agent for Georgia-Pacific in Fordyce. He was also an Army World War II veteran serving in the Pacific 81st Wild Cat division. He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. Pride and Lillie Herring Pride; sisters, Hazel Burkett and Cornelia Tomlinson; brother, Edward "Red" Pride. He is survived by his wife, Doris Pride of Fordyce; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas E. and Phyllis Pride of Dewitt, Iowa.; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Charles Reed of Gillett, Ark.; two grandchildren, Thomas Andrew Pride and wife Joan of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Brent Reed of Gillett, Ark. • FORT SMITH - Johnny Herbert Mayberry was born June 2, 1932 in Jenny Lind, Ark. to Jerry Thomas Mayberry and Emma Degen Mayberry. Johnny died Nov. 28, 1950, in the line of duty serving the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. His remains were found and positively identified with family DNA and returned home for burial.

He is survived by one sister, Alice Baker of Fort Smith; one brother, Jerry C. Mayberry of Fort Smith and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.

His mother and his sister, Ruby Franklin, died following his death in Korea.

Funeral service will be Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, and burial will follow with Full Military Honors in the U.S. National Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. • GREENBRIER - Edker Lee "Ed" Price, 79, of Greenbrier, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009. Born in Scott, Ark. on May 23, 1930, he was a son to the late Robert Hershel and Pearl Mae (Mayhan) Price. Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He retired from Johnson and Johnson as a manufacturing supervisor. Ed was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and attended the Greenbrier Church of the Nazarene. Three infant siblings also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Shirley (Emmons) Price; sons David R. Price (Peggy) of Sherwood, and Wesley Price of Greenbrier; daughter Jonie R. Mallett (Steve) also of Greenbrier; four grandchildren, Dustin Price, Kristen Barger, Jordon Mallett and Spencer Mallet; sisters Vera McAtee of Savannah, Ga., Pat Wade of Little Rock and Treva Boardman of North Little Rock; a brother Hershel Price of Hensley , Ark.; and special sister-inlaw, Mary Jo Summar of Little Rock; and of a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

• GURDON - Mary Hortense Brown McBride, age 79, of Gurdon departed this life Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, to be with her Lord and Savior, reuniting with the love of her life, husband Elven W. McBride. She was born March 1, 1930, in Beaumont, Texas. Mary was a homemaker, member of the Red Springs EHC, Clark County Quilters' Guild, 4-H leader, a county and district fair judge, member CADC and Clark County voting poll clerk. She was a Sunday School teacher and musician at the First Assembly of God Church, which was founded by her father, Turner S. Brown. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Elven McBride; her parents, Turner S. Brown and Janie Vaden Brown; and sister, Ruth Olivia Lane. She is survived by two daughters, Melody and husband, Danny Key of Farmington, Crystal Dyer of Texarkana; and son, Ronnie and wife, Debbie McBride of Gurdon. Surviving their precious mammaw are five grandchildren, Johnny Key of Mountain Home, Meredith Key Bolt of Springdale, Tiffany Stinnett Purtle of Hope, Shane McBride of Arkadelphia and Shaina McBride of Gurdon; and seven great-grandchildren.

• HELENA - WEST HELENA - Patsy H. Nicholls, 87, of West Helena, Ark., passed away Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, in Helena. Patsy was born Nov. 3, 1921, in Haynes, Ark., to Louise Staten Hughes and Heber B. Hughes, Sr.

She graduated from Forrest City High School in 1939. She attended the University of Arkansas where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. Patsy was a charter member of the Junior Auxiliary. She served as circuit clerk of Phillips County from 1975 through 1986.

She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Altar Guild for many years.

She loved playing bridge and golf and was an active Razorback fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Heber Hughes, Jr; and a grandson, Rodney Davis Nicholls.

Patsy is survived by her husband of 65 years, James R. Nicholls, Sr.; two daughters, Frances Tate of Panama City, Fla., and Nancy Edens of Little Rock, Ark.; one son, James R. Nicholls, Jr. of Pearland, Texas; four grandchildren, Jenifer, Erin, Nicki and Bonnie; and six greatgrandchildren, Shelby, Hayden, Christian, Jake, Taylor and Holly.

• LONOKE - Mitchell Eugene Stine,

age 50, of Southbend Community in Lonoke County, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 31, 1958 in Birmingham, Ala., to Patricia Nell Stine and the late Arvin "Jerry" Stine.

• PINE BLUFF - Roy R. Holden, 87, of Pine Bluff, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at his home. Mr. Holden was born Oct. 8, 1921, in Letona, Ark. (White County), to the late James Arthur and Lula Frances West Holden. He was reared and received his education in West Point, where he graduated from West Point High School. He moved to Pine Bluff in 1941 and attended Modern School of Business in Pine Bluff, before joining the United States Army, serving in World War II in the European Theater.

He married Sara Frances Yates on March 6, 1943, in Hughes, Ark. Mrs. Holden passed away in 2006.

Mr. Holden worked for the Cotton Belt-Southern Pacific Railroad for 45 years, retiring in 1984, as an Assistant General Claims Agent.

Mr. Holden's hobbies included gardening, woodworking, and reading military history.

He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

He is survived by a son, Roy Scott Holden of Pine Bluff; a daughter, Fran Holden Waymack of Lilburn, Ga.; one grandchild, Matthew Waymack of Flowery Branch, Ga.; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph D. Holden of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister, Elizabeth Purcell of Little Rock, Ark.

Mr. Holden was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, J.R. Holden and H. P. Holden; and four sisters, Flossie Sims, Grace Harrison, Mary Parrish, and Virginia Woodle.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Robinson's. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at 10 a.m., in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Dr. Ed Gillham officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery.

• SAN JOSE, Calif. - Arlis Lorraine Williams Mozart, 92, died peacefully in her home in San Jose, Calif., on Aug. 16, 2009. Arlis was born on Jan. 23, 1917, in Enola, Ark., to Lysander and Artie Gore Williams. She moved to North Little Rock as a young child and was known as "Honey" to family and friends. Arlis graduated from North Little Rock High School. She married Theodore Wolfgang Mozart on Feb. 16, 1939. They spent 63 years together before his death in 2003.

Arlis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, John Arnold Williams of North Little Rock and Sanner Arvil Williams of Memphis; one sister, Ardell Williams Taylor of North Little Rock; and a sonin-law, William Vance. She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Ranney and husband, Robert of Exeter, Calif., Deidra Vance of San Martin, Calif.; and her sister, Aris Williams Marre of North Little Rock. Arlis has many grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

be with our Lord on Friday, Aug. 21, 2009. She was born April 30, 1909 in Normangee, Texas, a daughter of the late I.N. and Connie Cannon Lovett.

Ms. Lemons resided most of her life in Little Rock with her husband, Virgil. After many years, they both retired and moved to Sheridan. Mrs. Lemons retired from Arkansas Parks and Recreation Center and was a member of First Baptist Church in Sheridan. After moving to Dallas, she attended North Mesquite Baptist Church. Mrs. Lemons was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Virgil Lemons.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and Bill Hutto of Garland, Texas; one grandson, Jon Hutto of Garland, Texas; sister, Mildred Crossley of Bryant; niece, Sue Johnston of North Little Rock, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
