Librarians to raise money for March of Dimes

— A jailbird party and movie night will be held at the Faulkner County Library at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Librarians Sarah Mattingly and Allan Benson are participating in the March of Dimes Jail and Bail Fundraiser. These librarians are hoping to raise a total of $2,000 ($1,000 each) for the March of Dimes. Patrons are invited to drop by and "bail out" their local librarians. Donations for the March of Dimes will be accepted at this event.

The party starts at 6:30 with face painting for kids, games and more.

The movie, Cool Hand Luke, will be shown on a large theater style screen at 7. Free popcorn and drinks will be served. A dessert raffle will also be hosted. Winners of the raffle will be announced following the movie.

One of the March of Dimes favorite events, Jail and Bail brings together community leaders and ordinary residents for a common cause - fighting birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

At this event, volunteer "jailbirds" serve time in a mock jail. "Prisoners" are arraigned before a volunteer judge on trumped up, outlandish charges, such as "reckless golf-cart driving." They are then sentenced to spend an hour in the "slammer" to raise bail in the form of donations to the March of Dimes.

Donations to the March of Dimes will be accepted at the library until Wednesday. Patrons can also donate online to bail out their librarian. To bail out Sarah, patrons can donate at jailandbail.marchofdimes.com/sarahmattingly. To bail out Allan, patrons can donate at jailandbail.marchofdimes.com/AllanBenson.

Dessert donations for the raffle are needed. For more information on this event, contact Sarah Mattingly at (501) 327-7482 or e-mail to sarah@fcl. org. The event is open to the public.
