WILLIAM ROSS "BILL" BALDRIDGE, 68, of North Little Rock diedTuesday, Aug. 25, 2009. He was born Aug. 3, 1941, the only son of William F. and Marion Ross Baldridge, who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of North Little Rock High School and Ouachita Baptist University.

Bill enjoyed life to the fullest. Hewas an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman. He spent many years as an active member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and he shared his hunting and fishing skills with adults and children alike. Bill was a storyteller extraordinaire, always captivating all within earshot. He also kept his friends and family entertained with his creative use of simile.

Bill was a coach, account executive at Brittenum and Associates and sales professional, but caring for his father, "Daddy Bill" during the last eight years of Daddy Bill's life was his most fulfilling "job."

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Baldridge Stipe and husband, Jim; sisters, Alice George and husband Warren, and Beckie Hilburn and husband Carey; nieces and nephews, Sherrye Campbell, Lorrie George, Carla Prater, Chris and Joe Chambers; 11 great-nieces and nephews; cousin, Billy Ray Usery; and his love, Jimmie Lea Duncan.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Jason Smith, the staff of Little Rock Hematology and Oncology and Dr. Mendelsohn, Baptist Health Hospice, and Saline Memorial Hospice House.

CLYDE C. FRENCH, 75, of Little Rock passed away Aug. 25, 2009. Born April 13, 1934, in O'Cain, Ark .,to Adolf and Jewel French, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran, member of the Shrine and a Mason, and retired after 30 years with ABF Trucking Co. He was a member of River of Life Assembly of God.

He is survived byhis wife of 52 years, Levida Foley French; daughter, Donna Harris; sons, Dennis French and Michael French; brother, Eddie Mac French; sister, Joanne Roberts; and grandchildren, Justin Harris, Michael (CD) French and Joe French. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Doc and Sammy French; and sister, Sue Dusto.

DON KENNETH KING, 61, of Little Rock passed away June 20, 2009, after a long battle with cancer. A Memorial Service in celebration of Don's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29th at Trinity United Methodist Church in Little Rock.

ALCORN F. MINOR JR., 80, of Little Rock, formerly of Newport, died onAug. 23, 2009. He was born Dec. 29, 1928, to Alcorn Minor Sr. and Clint Edgar Minor.

Mr. Minor graduated from Newport High School, attended the University of the South at Sewanee where he was a KappaSigma, and graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in psychology. He was co-owner of Minor Insurance Agency before moving to Washington, D.C., to become the Senior Editor of the American Psychological Association.

He served as President of the Arkansas Association of Insurance Agents, the President of the Arkansas Arts Center, and as a member of the Board of Trustees at the University of the South. He was also President of the Newport Country Club, Newport Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs. Alcorn served on the Board of Directors at Merchants and Planters Bank, was a longtime Deacon of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Newport, and enjoyed volunteer work at the Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. Minor also served as an Army Veteran. He was also a passionate artist and a prolific writer who was published in several newspapers and periodicals.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Al Minor III and Susan McNealy Minor and granddaughter, Avery Minor of Portola Valley, Calif., and grandson, Al Minor IV of New York City; daughter, Leigh Anne Minor Schlegel and sonin-law, Daniel, grandsons, Justin and Keenan Schlegel of Paris, France; and son and daughter-in-law, Clayton Watkins Minor and Cindy Fox Minor and granddaughter, Caroline Minor of Little Rock; and also a brother, John Minor and his wife Mildred of Newport.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 20900 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, with Pastor Dan McKee presiding. Arrangements are by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, (501) 224-8300.

BENTON - Jerome O. Wright, age 52, of Benton, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2009. He was born June 2, 1957, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Jerome and Betty Wright. Mr. Wright was a U.S. Navy veteran, a volunteer firefighter at Turtle Creek Fire Department and an Eagle Scout. He was a member of the American Legion and 40-8 Club.

He is survived by his son, JayDe Wright and wife Amanda of Malvern; daughter, JeriLin Wright of Benton; the love of his life, Piper Ostie of Benton; two sisters, Kathleen Gordon and husband Wayne of Malvern and Mary Collie and husband Steve of Traskwood; granddaughter, Kristen Wright of Bryant; niece, Ashley Collie of Bryant; and a nephew, Ricky Perciful of Malvern.

CABOT - Dorothy Steed Mooney of Cabot, Arkansas, was born September 8, 1932, at Pine Bluff, the daughter of the late William Eley Steed, Sr. and Odie Smith Steed. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pine Bluff and was a retired accountant. Her greatest joy in life washer family. She loved being a wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Mooney died Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at North Metro Medical Center in Jacksonville at the age of 76. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by siblings, Emma Ilene Steed, Howard Steed, Sr., Jesse Roy Steed and his wife Dolly, and Joyce Earnest.

Survivors include her husband and best friend for 53 years, Raymond Mooney of Cabot; daughter, Carol Ann Meadors and husband Rick of Cabot; grandchildren, Beth Meadors of Kennesaw, Georgia, and Matt Meadors of Cabot; brother, William E. DeVALLS BLUFF - Mary Nell Tate, 88, of DeValls Bluff, died Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Chambers Nursing Home in Carlisle. She was born May 7, 1921, the daughter of John and Bessie Garth.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Lawman, and a son, Jackie Lawman. She is survived by one daughter, Elva Griffin (Richard) of Cabot; one son, David Lawman (Ramona) of West Helena; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

ENGLAND - Beatrice Hughes, 87, of England, Arkansas, went tobe with the Lord Tuesday, August 25, 2009. She was born in England, Arkansas, on August 4, 1922, to Claude and Birdie Wood Hughes. Bea was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in England, Arkansas. She retired asa sales clerk for Sterlings.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. She is survived by one sister, Willie Mae Weidknecht of St. Louis, Mo., and one brother, Don Hughes of England, Arkansas.

FORREST CITY - Mrs. Martha Frances Couchman, age 70, of Forrest City died Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at her home in Forrest City after a 16-month battle with cancer. She was born February 20, 1939, in Morrilton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Armour and Lou Ed Carter.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Dwayne, of Forrest City; two daughters, Renee Tarrant and husband Larry of Cabot and grandsons, L.J. and Tyler, Cynthia Gaines and husband Charles of Forrest City and grandchildren, Kyle, Jacob, Sarah Beth, Carter and Charles Jr. and his wife Jaymie of Cordova, Tenn., and great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Hayden and Gabriel Gaines. She is also survived by her sister, Lydia Kincses of Venice, Fla.

HOUSTON - Harvey N. Hillenburg Sr., 74, of Houston, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2009. Born in Powhatan, Ark., he was a son of the late Clarence and Gertie (Davis) Hillenburg. Harvey was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was a member of First Baptist Church in Perryville. He retired from Arrow Automotive in Morrilton.

A brother Charles Hillenburg also preceded him in death. She graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1974. She is survived by a son, Kendrick (Tiffany) Ventry of Pine Bluff; two daughters, Roshunda (Jimmy Nance) of Sherwood and Alia Reeves (Mario) of Pine Bluff; five grandchildren; four brothers; and five sisters.

PINE BLUFF - M.T "Tiny" Woodruff, of Pine Bluff died Tuesday August 18, 2009, while vacationing in Denali State Park, Alaska. He was born in Camden, Ark., on May 14, 1950, to the late Theola and Fred C. Woodruff Sr.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca Phiefer Woodruff of Pine Bluff, a son, Mansel Thomas Woodruff Jr. of Van Buren, and a daughter, Sarah Ann Woodruff of Pine Bluff. He had one sister, Jerry Ann Woodruff Weaver of Springdale, and a cousin, Joy "Bunny" Burr. He was also preceded in the death by one brother, Fred C. Woodruff Jr.

He received his early education in Pine Bluff and graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1969. He also attended Henderson State University in Arkadelphia. Mr. Woodruff worked as a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years. He was a life-long avid hunter and fisherman, and a member of the Lincoln/Drew County Hunting Club for many years.

Visitation will be held at Ralph Robinson & Son on Friday August 28 from 6-8 p.m. and the memorial service will be held on Saturday August 29, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son. SEARCY - Phillip Rowland Shewmaker Sr. of Searcy was born Nov. 18, 1918, to the late Marion Luther and Mabel Thurman Shewmaker. He passed away July 26, 2009, in Little Rock, Ark. He and Juanita Mosbey were married April 19, 1944, and lived together for 57 years until her death on July 23, 2001.

Survivors are daughter, LaJuana Joan; son, Phillip Rowland Jr.; grandson, Phillip Rowland III; brothers, Marion Lee (Jack) and Clevie Gene; sisters, Joy and Shirley Helen.

A memorial service is scheduled on Aug. 29, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church, 304 North Main, Searcy, Ark. 72143, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel.

WILMOT - Warner Braxton McKee, 99, of Wilmot passed awayon Aug. 25, 2009, in the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. He was born on July 31, 1910, to the late James Monroe and Sarah Bellott McKee in the Beech Creek Community east of Hamburg.

The family laterbought farmland and moved to the Wilmot area. He graduated from Wilmot High School in 1931 where he received honors as an outstanding athlete and student.

In the fall of that year and in the midst of the Great Depression, he married his high school sweetheart, Audie Haynes. The lessons from that Depression influenced the lives of their children and grandchildren. Together, by the 1960s they had created a small but beautiful and progressive farm. They had realized a lifelong dream of graduating two children from college. He was a member of the Wilmot United Methodist Church and had served on its official board.

In addition to his wife and parents he is preceded in death by four brothers, Ed, Hurley, Earl and Jim McKee; and a son-in-law, Carl Horne.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Harrod and husband Shelby of Hamburg and Yvonne Horne of Smackover; four grandsons, Reid Harrod, David Harrod and wife Peggy, all of Hamburg, Kenneth Yeager of Bearden and Jim Yeager and wife Crystal of Smackover; eight great-grandchildren, Christian, Alex, Ethan and Sarah Harrod, all of Hamburg, Sydney, Braxton, and Kayleigh Yeager, all of Smackover and Lindsey Yeager of Bearden; one greatgreat-grandchild, Charter Raines of Bearden.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, in the chapel of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home with Rev. David A. Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Wilmot Cemetery. Pallbearers are Reid Harrod, David Harrod, Jim Yeager, Kenneth Yeager, Christian Harrod, Alex Harrod, Braxton Yeager and Sydney Yeager. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. ISLAMORADA KEY, Fla. - Lurline Freeland Burch of Islamorada Key and Venice, Florida, formerly from Hughes, Arkansas, departed this life on August 23, 2009. Lovingly known by her family as Bubbles, a name given to her by her grandchildren, she was a true southern belle who was known for her beauty and charm. She was born in Whiteville, Tennessee, on August 16, 1922, the daughter of Robert A. and Gladys Seddons Freeland. She attended Memphis State, where she was a member of Kappa Lambda Sigma Sorority. On March 29, 1943, she married Luke A. Burch Jr. and lived in La Jolla, California, while her husband was overseas. After World War II, she and her husband owned a farming operation in Hughes, Arkansas.While in Hughes, she was an active member of the First Baptist Church and volunteered in the nursery department for 36 years. She and her husband retired to Islamorada Key in 1976, where they were members of the Layton Community Baptist Church. During their retirement, they traveled extensively.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Luke E. Burch, Jr. and her brother Robert D. "Jack" Freeland of Whiteville, Tennessee. She is survived by her sons Judge Robert E. (Freida) Burch of Dickson, Tennessee, and Drs. Lan F. (Gay) Burch of Hot Springs, Arkansas, her grandchildren, Dr. William E. (Jennifer) Burch, Ashley Burch (Greg) Grant, and Daniel S. (Robin) Burch, and her great-grandchildren, Wallace Burch, Reed Burch, Clay Burch, Michael Burch, Hannah Grant, Ellie Grant and Chloe Burch.

A family graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Memphis, Tennessee. The family requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Hughes, Arkansas.
