TULSA — Jeff Kindel's bases-loaded single with one out in the ninth inning gave the Tulsa Drillers a 7-6 victory over the Arkansas Travelers on Wednesday night in front of 7,093 fans at Drillers Stadium.
Kindel's single was his third hit of the game. Tulsa had erased a 5-0 deficit after the fourth inning only to allow the Travelers to tie the game at 6-6 in the top of the ninth.
Hainley Statia's one-out single scored Ryan Mount in the top of the ninth. Mount had started the inning by hitting an Andrew Johnston (2-3) pitch to right-center field for a double. Wil Ortiz put down a sacrifice bunt before Statia's hit.
Rex Rundgren was hit by a pitch and Anthony Jackson drew a walk from Bobby Cassevah (3-7). Danny Sandoval hit into a fielder's choice and Mike Paulk was intentionally walked before Kindel singled into left field for the game-winner.
Statia finished with 3 of the Travelers' 10 hits and drove in 2 runs.
Mount and Ortiz also hadtwo hits for Arkansas.
Tulsa scored five runs on six hits - all singles - in the fifth inning to tie the game at 5-5.
Arkansas starter Tim Kiely gave up seven hits, but only two of the five runs he allowed were earned. David Herndon gave up three hits and a run in his three innings of relief.
