TEXARKANA — A Texarkana police officer broke the glass out of a Ford Explorer window and yanked an injured man from the fiery wreckage Thursday night after responding to a crash.
Officer Zachary White and Sgt. Joe Bennett administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation on William Bright, a Texarkana man who was a passenger in the sport utility vehicle that crashed into a tree. The officers were unable to save him, police said.
Bright and the driver, Clinton Brown, both 26, were pronounced dead at the scene. Brown is also from Texarkana.
Police said the SUV crashed into a tree after leaving the roadway as it was traveling down Line Ferry Road just before 11 p.m.
