HIGH SCHOOL BOYS: LR Central throttles Fair

— The nightmare became a reality for Little Rock Fair on Tuesday night as the Little Rock Central Tigers cruised by the War Eagles 64-41 at the Central gymnasium.

Senior forward Alandis Harris scored 20 points for Central, which won its third game in a row to improve to 4-5.

“Alandis is an absolute nightmare for people to defend,” Central Coach Oliver Fitzpatrick said. “He can do everything on the floor.”Harris scored 11 points in the first half as Central jumped out to leads of 6-0 and 10-1. Fair did not score its first field goal until 1:10 remained in the first quarter when De-Wayne Canady scored for the War Eagles (1-5). Central led 25-18 at halftime.

Central’s Jordan Washington opened the second half with a three-point play to push the Tigers’ lead to 28-18. Another three-point play by Central’s Matt Johnson followed by a fast-break layup by Brock Melvin made it a 15-point advantage before Fair’s Kenneth Hubbard stopped the run and made it 33-20.

That was as close as theWar Eagles would get. Harris scored the Tigers’ final seven points of the third quarter to push the margin 44-25. Central’s lead grew to 28 points in the fourth quarter.

Trevon Wilkerson scored 12 and Jordan Washington 11 for Central. Alex Clorid led Fair with 13 points.
