Senate panel advances bill on Ark. FOI law

— A Senate panel has endorsed a bill that requires proposed legislation to state if it creates an exemption to the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act.

The Senate State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee on Thursday advanced the bill by Rep. Dan Greenberg, R-Little Rock. Greenberg has said the proposal would make it easier for the public to find out what changes the Legislature plans to make to state law protecting access to public records and meetings.

The bill, which was approved by the House earlier this week, now heads to the Senate for a vote.
