2 killed, 5 hurt in 2 accidents on same road

Two traffic accidents that occurred on the same Little Rock road claimed two lives Wednesday. Five others were injured in the crashes.

In the first accident at Kanis Road and Marlyn, happened at 4 p.m. on what was described in the report as wet road conditions.

A Pontiac Grand Am struck the curb and swerved into the left lane, where it was struck by a Chrysler Aspen, according to the report.

The driver of the Grand Am, Rose Youngblood, 46, of Dekalb, was killed in the accident.

Injured were her passenger, Teresa White, 39 of Dallas, and the driver of the Aspen, Janet Cathey, 52, of Little Rock.

The second accident happened at Kanis and Gamble roads around 6:40 p.m. The rains had continued, and the roads were wet, according to the accident report.

In the accident, a Chevrolet S-10 crossed the center line and struck a Toyota head-on.

The driver of the truck, Vicki Arriaga, 46, of Little Rock was injured, along with her passenger, Adrian Arriaga.

Also injured was the driver of the Toyota, Eugene Blaszak, 81, of Little Rock. Josephine Blaszak, 78, of the same Little Rock address, was killed.
