BOWLING Jacksonville’s York bowls fifth 300, career-high 815

— Jacksonville’s Mike York followed games of 257 and 258 in the CES League at the Little Rock Air Base Bowling Center with his fifth 300 game and a career-high 815 series.

“It’s strange in that I shot my first 800 series, an 812, on this same pair, Nov. 19, 2008,” said York, employed by Loomis. “That time I had 33 of a possible 36 strikes, but this time only 31 of a possible 35. I wore the pocket out all night, the hits the 300 were good. I’m taking rings for both awards plus the TNBA [The National Bowling Association] awards.

“Our team shot games of 944, 887 and 957 for a 2,802 total, not bad for three men and a woman. Lula Duhon shot 582; Mike Duhon 638; andRoger York 767.”

York started bowling at 6 at Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina. He used a Brunswick Danger Zone ball and averages 224 and 228. He has two 298 games and four 11-strikes-ina-row awards.

DOOLEY NOTED

Tim Dooley of Fort Smith defeated Springdale’s KenRoetzel 246-200 in the title match of the Arkansas Senior Scratch Bowlers Tour after Roetzel had won the first match 209-186. This gave Dooley his first ASSBT title and $600.

Dooley went through the winners’ bracket with victories over Bruce Campbell of Greenbrier, Tenn., 235-223, Dewayne Thompson of Fort Smith, 225-176, Roy Parrish of Conway, 247-242, and in the finals of the winners’ bracket, Woody Jackson of Fort Smith, 242-192.

Roetzel took the long road as he lost to Jackson after they tied at 202. In the rolloff Roetzel had strike/spare/ strike for 40 and Jackson a four-bagger for 60.

Roetzel followed with victories over Rod Rader of Lowell, 215-170, Dennis Collins of West Fork, 228-223, Stan Thrift of Fort Smith, 189-149, Ken Clark of Bentonville, 269-199, Parrish 258-222, and in the finals of the losers’ bracket, Jackson 221-181.

Roetzel earned $300; Jackson $200; Parrish $150; Ralph Pridmore, Jacksonville, and Clark $100 each; Thrift, and Campbell $90 each.

BURLISON TIES HIGH SERIES

Felicia Burlison, 32, of Bauxite, shot three more 700 series to up her state-leading total to 313 and in the process tied her high series of 794.

She shot games of 234, 236, and 258 for a 728 series at Enterprise Lanes in Benton, and followed with 268, 268 and 258 for 794 in Benton’s Finest Ladies League that tied her career high shot on Sept. 9, 2006, at Enterprise.

She also shot games of 226, 246 and 269 for 741 in the Thursday Men’s League at Enterprise.

She starting bowling at 6 at Professor Bowl South, hasseven 300 games, three 299s, two 298s, nine 11-strikes-ina-row awards including two 297s, a 292, and six 290s.

John Dailey shot 279-699 in the Millennium First at Millennium Bowl in Maumelle; and Ralph Pridmore left the 3-5-6 for 297 and his 10th 11-strikes-in-a-row award in the Cabot First at Allfam Bowl in Cabot.

Junior Shelby Smith shot 209, 213 and 202 for 624 and her first 600 series and Mike Donnelly rolled a 246 triplicate series, the house high triplicate, and Tasha Brown with 267-638 received the Arkansas State Women’s Bowling Association 250 award at Allfam.

Marla Stewart with 259-652 picked up both awards at Central Lanes in Hot Springs.

Felicia Burlison shot 222, 234, 224-680 in the Millennium Mixed, and 238, 226-666 in Benton’s Finest Ladies; Rachel Perez 259, 222-660 and Debbie Uekman 231, 247, 693 in the MillenniumMixed at Millennium Bowl; Misti Curry 246, 225-676 and Marian James 236-666 in Benton’s Finest Ladies; and Cindy Covert 233, 236, 224-693 in the Thursday Men’s at Enterprise Lanesfor the awards.

Two youth bowlers at Enterprise shot 700 series - Marcus Wilson with games of 265, 279 and 226 for 770; and Chris Seligman with 249, 269 and 214 for 732.
