Lincoln spent $2M over 3 months on re-election

Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln’s campaign says she spent more than $2 million over the past three months on her re-election bid.

Lincoln’s campaign reported Tuesday that it raised $1.3 million in the first quarter of the year and has $4.3 million cash on hand. Lincoln has raised $6.8 million since the start of 2009.

Lincoln’s spending ramped up as she faced a challenge in the Democratic primary from Lt. Gov. Bill Halter, who announced in March he would run for her seat. On her last quarterly fundraising report, Lincoln reported spending $395,195 over a three-month period.

Halter’s campaign says he raised more than $2 million in March.

Thursday is the deadline for federal candidates to file quarterly fundraising reports.
