A Texas woman found a 2.93-carat diamond Thursday at Crater of Diamonds State Park near Murfreesboro.
Angela Vickers of Winnsboro, Texas, was on vacation with her husband and their three children on their first family vacation when she found the diamond the size of an English pea, the Arkansas state park director's office said in a news release Monday.
After a three-hour search, Vickers found the stone in the shade, the release said. Vickers says she's unsure what she will do with the stone.
The largest diamond of the 27,000 discovered by park visitors since the Crater became an Arkansas state park in 1972 was the 16.37-carat Amarillo Starlight, discovered in 1975 by W. W. Johnson of Amarillo, Texas.
